The great independent press is having a summer sale. Thirty percent off everything. Great books that look cool.

Here are my favorites, if you’re looking and don’t know where to start:
Suppose A Sentence by Brian Dillon
For the past few years, a foundational text in my workshops. A nice blend of scholarship and romance.
Septology by Jon Fosse
A 700-page hypnotic prayer. Almost certainly over-hyped when it first came out, but still one of my favorite books. Artistic madness.
Dark Neighbourhood by Vanessa Onwuemezi
While Fitzcarraldo is most known for translating Nobel candidates (and winners) from their native languages into English, they also discover and promote exciting new voices like Onwuemezi. A wonderful debut collection.
The Netanyahus by Joshua Cohen
Timely! And hilarious. A good send up of academia. Worthwhile winner the Pulitzer Prize.
Counternarratives by John Keene
The closest thing we, Americans, have to Borges. A must.
The Long Form by Kate Briggs
A contemplative and exciting journey. Anyone with young kids can walk in and out of it, as I did when Noah was a few months old. Works like brilliant poetry. Perfect for a distracted parent, or anyone.
